Creating Big Little Skies
A Celebration of the Midwestern Landscape on a Small Scale
There’s something truly magical about the midwestern sky.
There’s something even more magical when it’s captured in miniature form.
As an artist, I’m inspired by the natural world. I’m in a constant state of wonder any time I’m out for a walk, on a drive through Wisconsin backroads, or just sitting on the beach enjoying the waves crashing as clouds float on by. In “Big Little Skies," I sought to capture this sense of wonder on a smaller scale, using gouache and oil paints to depict breathtaking vistas in miniature form.
“I invite you to feel the same wonder and awe that I experience when observing the natural world.”
This set of paintings ranges in size from as ‘large’ as 6x8 inches to as small as 1x1.5 inches. Each piece focuses on different aspects of the sky, whether it's the vibrant colors of a sunset, the soft glow of dawn, or the dramatic formations of big ol’ cumulus clouds. I invite you to feel the same wonder and awe that I experience when observing the natural world. These paintings may be small in size, but man are they are big in emotion, atmosphere, and magic.
As you explore the collection, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the beauty of the natural world. In our busy lives, it's easy to overlook the simple yet profound moments that nature offers. These paintings are a reminder to pause and appreciate the world around us, even if it's just a small and brief moment in time.
It’s no surprise I love this collection of work, and I hope you do too.
Thank you for joining me on my artistic journey. I hope "Big Little Skies" brings a touch of the Midwest's charm and beauty into your life, and I look forward to sharing more of my work with you in the future.
Til Next Time,
Peace, Love & Mac n’ Cheese
